I have a 3rd interview on site in Stamford NJ.
This job could be a great opportunity. I live in Jackson and have a house here so I cant move immediately. What commuting ideas does everyone have. I would need to be there by 830am latest.
Thank you
If you need to be in Stamford, CT by 8:30 AM--at the latest--you would need to leave your house no later than 6:00 AM, and that might not actually be early enough without knowing your exact location in Jackson and the exact location of the job in Stamford. And then, there is the reality that your commuting time would be at least 45 minutes longer on rainy days, possibly twice as long as "normal" on snowy days, and completely untenable when the inevitable accidents lead to lane closures. And then, there is the return trip at the end of the workday. All in all, you would experience a huge amount of stress, not to mention the cost of gasoline and a lot of wear and tear on your car.
If you decide to commute from Jackson, NJ to Stamford, CT, I predict that you will rapidly tire of being behind the wheel for a minimum of 5 hours per day, and will have to leave that job.
True,,, doable but a lot of time on the road each day,,, like having 2 jobs, one being driving yourself to work and back.
Years ago l had a friend who lived around Rockaway Twsp and worked in Stamford several years. That's at least closer to the North.
Im somewhat ok with driving myself and you might be but figure a few months of that and how youd feel then,,, unless depending on the job you could telecommute several days.
I worked in Stamford when I lived in Queens, NY. I would leave at 6:20am every day and get to work just before 8am. I did it for a year cause I knew it was a great contract to do and would help my career after. It did but I will never do that commute again. 1 car accident can send you back 45 mins, I got stuck once near New Haven cause of a Jack knife tractor trailer accident. It took me 6 hours to get home!

Good Luck with the job!
How did you end up near New Haven on a commute from Queens to Stamford?
Commute assumes no impact from weather, commute system failures ( traffic, accident, train/bus breakdowns, worker strikes or infrastructure issues (stuck bridges etc.) or cost of commute tickets rising
Thank you all for responding. Sorry I am new to this forum and did not know how to locate my initial question
Update. I did the interview on Thursday exactly 122 miles. The drive home was very rough. I am still waiting to hear back
If I get this position and take it. I will need to rent a small studio and on the weekends drive back to Jackson to sell my townhouse. It is not feasible to do this drive but I must say the new bridge is beautiful
Thank you for your input
I know someone that does Marlboro to Stamford. He now rents a room for $500 for the weekdays there.
