Hello everyone,
We are moving to New Jersey from Canada and need help finding a good place to rent.
My work location is going to be Newark and Husband will go to NYC once in 2 weeks so I would like to stay within 30 min commute from Newark.
We are looking for 3 bedroom townhouses but apartment will do too.
We are a family of 4, kids age are 4 and 9.
I would like to stay in a community that is safe, has good public school and within 30 min commute from Newark downtown.

Appreciate your help and looking forward to recommendations.

Good bang for your buck is probably West Orange and Nutley. But since I don’t know your budget, in order of nice to not so nice:

Millburn/Short Hills
Livingston
Montclair
South Orange/Maplewood
Verona/Cedar Grove
West Orange
Nutley
Bloomfield
Clifton
Kearny/Harrison
Belleville

Those are all North, South West and otherwise you have nice places Cranford, Roselle, Rahway, Rahway is right on the main train line and lots of opportunity. Clark is next town over.

Rahway is over $1600 for a 1br I can just imagine what a 2br costs. Decent area probably gotta cost close to $2500 these days.

Its crazy how high rent has gotten. Rent is tied to housing prices, interest rates, taxes and inflation so its justified. I just imagine the sticker shock now when the going rate for a 1br apartment is $2k for a decent area.
