What towns should a young first time home owner be looking at in Ocean or Monmouth county(or other Central Jersey areas). I would ideally like something for around $200k which im sure doesnt leave me with too many otions. I'm obviously looking for something that needs some work put into it, but I would like to find an area that is up and coming so I will be able to recover all of the repairs and improvements I make.

I live in Freehold Borough. You can get a decent house in a decent money for $200k. Come here, we want first time buyers who will take pride in ownership. Feel free to send me a message if you have questions about the area.

Otherwise, I would recommend Allentown. I really like that town, and I think there are a few things in that price range. I think Allentown has potential, and has improved tremendously in the past 5 years.

Anything age restricted is most likely in Freehold Township, not Freehold Borough.

The best way I've found to search properties in Freehold Borough is at MonmouthOceanMLS.com, which has an advance search option that allows you to "drill down" to a specific community more than realtor.com does.

And novillero is right, Freehold Borough (where I also live) could be a good match for you, given your price range.
