Need advice on choosing a nice neighborhood and home:
Am a 1st time home buyer, Need recommendations on nice neighborhoods with good schools within 20+ miles of Livingston? Don’t have a family yet but looking for eventual resale.
Looking for min 3bed/ 2bath, Budget ~450K.
What would be available in North NJ in that price range- Townhomes or single family homes?
Single family homes would be better but form what I have researched I find more Townhomes in my price range, but some Townhomes seem to have a very crammed layout. Any suggestions??
Would prefer newer constructions (10-15 years old)
Cities with good bus/trains to NY would be good as well but not a must.
Any good Websites for searching properties in North NJ?

Big wish list…but am hoping for some advice. I have found this forum really helpful so far and thanks for that….

You can find something in that range..new if not brand new in Warren County or southern Sussex County. Livingston is about 30 mins from here..without traffic though. www.gsmls.com areas close to Rt. 80 would be Hackettstown, Independence, Allamuchy, Frelinghuysen, Mansfield in Warren County and Green Twp., Andover, Fredon in Sussex County

njmls.com is a good site for north nj. But you need to know specific towns in order to search the website

You can try Mt. Olive (Flanders and Budd lake), Roxbury Twp, Randolph possibly, even some in Washington Twp - morris Co. which has an excellent school system. Maybe even Netcong? Denville but it may be an older home - nice area. Boonton Twp. would be a great choice as well..not Town of Boonton but Boonton Twp.
