Hey everybody.... Just curious... what area of NJ would be your choice to live? (within reason).... I have 3 children... husband is a bus driver... middle class I guess we are. I am in PA but considering moving and I am just getting very confused looking at information.... south, north, etc....
What area do you think would be good to raise kids, great schools, etc?

I'd choose different areas for different reasons:
NW Jersey (Warren & Sussex part of Morris counties) for the amount of home you get and the scenic area, i.e. quality of life.
NNJ (Bergen, Hudson, Passaic counties) proximity to NYC and all the activities like sports & entertainment, Museums, quality of restaurants etc etc etc
Essex county I'd skip, but there are some great towns but it has the reputation of high taxes (see, footing the bill for Newark and the likes)
Hunterdon county has some great schools and IMO great quality of life for raising children, If I'd have a choice (DW does) LOL I'd live in Hunterdon county.
Depends where in Philly. Pick the most convenient bridge from work and then let us know. For example, if it's commodore barry, you would look in swedesboro, woolwich, mullica hill, logan, etc (depending on price range). If it was Walt Whitman, you will be looking at different towns. NJ has a lot of diverse towns.
I appreciate your responses but I am still confused. Hubby is a bus driver in Manhattan but as you can see, commuting I guess is not a factor since we live in PA right now. We are originally from Staten Island, NY so most people we know did go towards south jersey but I am really not swayed in any way.... I guess I have ALOT of thinking to do!
Monmouth County is nice as well. I am in Middletown-a lot of Staten Islanders here. You have easy access to Manhattan by NJ Transit and the Belford Ferry. Great schools and a wonderful parks department with so much for the kids to do.
