Hello Everyone-I rent an apartment in my two family home in New Jersey. On March 1st, I signed a lease with a new tenant. At that time, the tenant stated she did not have the security deposit and would come the following day. I have not heard from her since. I have called her and left her several messages. My question is can I send her notice at the address she put on the application and if so, what should it state and how long do I have to wait before I start showing/renting the apartment?

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check with a lawyer first, however, I'd say her lack of desire to follow through is enough reason to begin showing the place. While a signature will hold the place, money means occupancy. Document your efforts and make the letter certified. In the time elapsed for an answer, you can have another taker waiting in the background. You may have the place rented by 4/1. Someone as caring as you sound like you are should get a good tenant. The one you had isn't up to standards.
