OMG I drove by that on Irvine Turner literally hours before the shooting. Good thing I get out to do my chores early.

Default The real headline......

"Nj's strict gun laws fail to protect 6 Newark citizens."

Perpetrators opt out of subscribing to Nj's restrictive gun laws, reputed to be the toughest in the nation.

Lawmakers stumped as to next steps in fight against local crime.

Early proposals for consideration are to establish free fire zones on alternate numbered streets from 11pm to 4am, Sundays and holidays excepted. The town plans to adapt sound barriers as bullet stops and line each of the affected streets to protect its citizenery. A $200,000 ad campaign will endeavor to convince armed criminals to restrict their gunplay to the specified streets and hours of operation. Failure to comply will be seriously frowned upon by authorities.

Additionally, brass casings gathered at crime scenes will be collected for sale at the local scrapmetal yard to boost town coffers. An alternative suggestion, that has full bipartisan support, proposes to sell the brass casings as souveniers to tourists, each casing inscribed with, 'I survived my vacation to Newark, NJ with only a flesh wound."

Shooting in Kearny this morning as well, just across the bridge from Newark.

Kids play with bullets in broad daylight any given day. I don't know where this ammo comes from, maybe homemade.

^^^

The joy of summer...

When it is hot and humid, in a poor city like Newark, that is going to be a bad, bad mix.

I meant the town is across from Newark, sorry.

The shooting was on Kearny ave, near town hall. More on the Harrison side than the North Arlington side.
