We're hoping to be first time homeowners. I work in mid-town NYC.
Looking for a townhouse preferably with a strong Indian community and with good public transport to NYC.
Although we're not parents yet, it wouldn't hurt to be close to good schools.
Please suggest good townhome communities which isnt too far from NYC...so Im thinking Morris, Essex, Union, Middlesex.

Can i get a decent home for $250-300k?

Edison, NJ. Look there, and realize your dreams!

Plus GSP and NJTPK meet up there as well. Of course, the local gov't is totally nuts there, but c'est la vie.

Plainsboro has a very strong Indian community and lots of townhouses and condos. The schools are well-regarded (WWP school district).

Commute to NYC is a lot more difficult from Plainsboro than it is from Edison.
