I hear you about NC. We moved down there in 2006 from Long Island. Well now we're in Jersey & I love it here! NC is not what it's cracked up to be- no jobs, no culture. We are in Washington township and it's all I thought NC was going to be. I meet so many people that want to move there and i tell them one at a time- DONT DO IT!

What part of NC? We were in Union County- Marvin.

We moved to New Jersey from Mississippi for the money too!

You had oil tank troubles and commute woes, we had other/very different issues. Our decision to move to New Jersey was the best decision we have ever made (although, I did enjoy the south tremendously).

Moving to a new State can be difficult, the adjustment can take a bit of time.
I guess my point is, you don't move for the size of your "bonus room", and I'm sure you didn't do that, but it sure reads like "size" matters to you.

We never spent much time in our "bonus room" in Mississippi.
I DID NOT MOVE FOR THE MONEY. My husband makes an excellent salary, and he even recieved a bonus in this economy.
I was not chancing of buying gas and there being an oll tank. People do that in NJ. There is no oil heat here, its gas or electric.
I watch TV in my bonus room every night. My office is upstairs off the Bonus room.
People don't seem to understand I like it here better, and in Nashville thee was nothing to adjust to. Mississipi is much different, more like Memphis which is scary, and yes I have been there.

And YES, Nashville is a hick town. It's tiny and extremely limiited. You don't even have Major League Baseball there. It's the country music and KKK capital of the USA.

You are very money-oriented and materialistic, aren't you???
First of all that house would never interest me because even the one I sold for $463K was nicer. I had about $75k left on Mtg, so you see I could afford it.
Nashville is all kinds of music, and its ovious you have never been here.
Memphis reminds me of Deliverence, its scary!! Many here agree with me on that.
Its not the KKK CAPTIAL, more like the bible capital, many churches, Huge ones, mine has 7000 people. It also has many synagoges and has a growing Jewish Population.

Nashville, TN Real Estate. Homes for Sale in Nashville, Tennessee It sure looks Hillybilly, LOL

This is a few blocks from my home, same builder but built after mine. Mine actually has more Sq footage, but in 07 it cost more to build than in 04 when mine was built
6741 Christiansted Ln, Nashville TN 37211, MLS #1098721, Weichert.com (http://www.weichert.com/26476566/?cityid=35279&ptypeid=32&minpr=400&maxpr=460&minbr =4&minba=3&exc=ncon%2cadc&view=gallery - broken link)
Notice? all brick, and I have the same window entrance.

Ohh yeah you got the Adirondacks however you are forgetting that the Adirondacks are some of the most poorest counties in the whole damn US! And to think me, the one who hates hillbillies moved there. You want to laugh, thats the place. At first it seemed so romantic, retired, fires, beautful hikes, fishing, nature, holding hands and having a second life honeymoon. Yeah right!!! This was the worst, I will take nashville anyday over that crappy, cold, hillbillie, loser area!! Now I WIN! If you would like me to tell you how bad it is, just ask, I can tell you after 4 months we were ready to shoot ourselves, relapse on drugs but you could not even get any, so it was Keystone Light, or kill yourself in Lake Champlain! It was bad.
marilyn. It reminds me of a Town where my daughers roommate is from. She talks me into picking her up at the Airport here, and I expect to take her to the aPT in Murfreesboro by the campus. She said her car is parked at home, and I need to drive her there. Its over an hour from the Airport. I drive her to her house in Centerport, TN, And she says she needs a ride into town to get Keys. You have to see this town, lol, 2 restaurants, a beauty salon, shoestore and this weird 2nd hand store. Their only claim to fame is that it was the birthplace of Minnie Pearl.
We get keys go back to her farm, 500 acres in the middle of nowhere. There is a ranch house, a lake, and lake house on property, but just weird.
To top this off, her parents still own the house but he took a transfer to Buffalo, NY, and bought a nice home there, also in the middle of no where.

Sorry your son got sick Diane, but it's good he is on the mend. I assume he was at MTMC? Great hospital!

Some people make complete fools out of themselves with thier hilariously incorrect assumptions of the Nashville area. I don't bother getting into it with them....I just laugh. Let them stay in NJ!

Steve, yes he was in MTMC. Today take him back to the Ear, Nose , and Throat specialist for a checkup. Did you see their new campus being built on Medical Parkway? There are part of St Thomas and Baptist, great hospital!

This looks like a good question to chat about on the TN forum.

Hmmm DM your thoughts on MS as that is on my short list for a winter home...Ocean Springs to be exact, also looking into the north shore of Lk Ponchartrain as well as Savannah/Bluffton area...Savannah would be a shorter drive that's for sure

Curious reading this--exactly what is a "bonus room"? I have never heard that term.
