As an unemployed resident of the state (after 15 yrs of unbrideled loyalty) - I keep looking for something positive to post- a small gain, or at the least less jobs leaving the state- but- I pickup the Herald News today(Passic cty) and front page is > >Wells Fargo is closing Thier check-processing ctr in Carlstadt - 86 more jobs gone forever. Extra discouraging for me to see this morning,as I was motivated yesterday, and used a 1/2 a tank of gas driving all over Essex & Morris cty -dropping off resumes at companies that are similar to the business Im used to- and others that are much different .
Want more??Unemployed rates rose in 43 states, last month, the gov,t said Friday.painting a bleak picture of the job market. NewJeseys unemployment meanwhile rose to a
33 year high of 10.2 %while NY reached a
26 yr high of 9.1 %
At 53 I saw tough times coming, I hope for another 10 yrs- then if this German owned company had to make moves- I would have been 63 and couldve tried somehow for early retirement- and moved to a cheaper part of the state. That is what a lot of the people , who were laid off with me (to save 1 million in salaries and benifits)- have done. 2 women in thier early 60,s packed up and sold thier homes in West Paterson %moved to a retirement community in Whiting,NJ. So you have to go a few yrs before medicaid kicks in- but they thought it worth the risk.
