Hi,

I'm organizing a charter bus to come to the Red Bull Air Race next month. I'm told that the regular parking areas at Liberty State Park will only be for the people buying the fancy hospitality seating. That's not us.

I see on the Bing and Google views that the area north of the park is an industrial area. I'm trying to find out if bus parking would be possible around there. I see that there is the Jersey City Medical Center in that area, but I can't find information on other companies in the area. I'd like to contact them and ask them if they'll be offering parking.

Thanks

Where are you coming form , most people take the Train. Unless your coming form PA or NYS take Amtrak Regional to Newark and the PATH to Jersey City and stay in a hotel down there. Parking will probably be restricted or impossible....You can get Group Packages on Amtrak Regional. But it all depends on where your coming form.

Thanks for the reply. We're coming from Windsor Locks, CT, which is about 12 miles north of Hartford.
This bunch of people is going to be like heading cats though. Putting them on a train, and then having to connect, probably in Newark, to get on another train to get to get to the park, and then getting everyone back again...Well, let's just say that I think some census forms would need to be changed since not everyone will make it.
Also Amtrak's one way fare is $38 from Windsor Locks, CT to Newark. Even with a discount, it's going to be a lot more than the $20 per person a full bus will cost us for the day trip.
After scanning the aerial map some more, I see that there is an RV parking lot to the north of Liberty State Park. I'll see if I can get a reservation there for the bus for the day. I wonder if the bus can do the drop off/pick up at the intersection of Jersey Ave. and Aetna St.? There's no walking access from the RV lot to the park.
It's the 21st century, and we still don't have our personal jetpacks yet!

Oh ic , well use the Park & Ride on 1/9 & take the Light Rail to the park it will be a whole lot easier , i believe you can park your bus there. Just call NJT.

I think you're right, as long as the lot doesn't fill up too early. Purchasing a ticket to the event allows a free light rail ticket too.

Again, I'm only looking at the Google Maps aerial view, so I'm not familiar with the area. The park and ride lot I see is at the intersection of West Side and Claremont Avenues. I'm guessing that's the lot you were writing about since the track terminates there? I don't see anything around Routes 1/9. I'll call NJT on Monday as you suggest. I know if I had a car, I'd put it in a nearby shopping center parking lot if the P&R lot filled up, but a bus stands out more. Someone from mall management may notice it sitting there for 7 hours.

The Westside Avenue line terminates there , and you take that to the Park. Takes about 45mins and cost 2.10 per ticket. The lot on Weekends , unless theres an event its empty. But even if theres an event they have another lot with shuttles i believe nearby. But if you call NJT , i'm sure they'll allow you to park there with a bus. Its right off the Turnpike too , so its easy to get to , unlike if you were to drive to Jersey City itself.
