Quite a sight... a herd of approximately 30 right where the Bonito crosses 380 ~5 miles NW of Hondo. They were initially all down by the road, but I spooked them and they scampered up the steep and rocky hillside. Are they wild or is someone breeding them on a ranch? At any rate these were loose. Wish I'd had a camera.

Ewes with a few babies I guess, since they did not have the dramatically curved horns of the males. They looked like this:

In 2007 the Director of Natural Resources relocated a portion of a herd of Bighorn sheep from the mountain behind Taos Pueblo near the area you are talking about.
