What is there not to understand? Bill Richardson served as a U.S. congressman from 1983 to 1997 and was U.S. ambassador to the United Nations following that, after which he served as energy secretary under Bill Clinton. Richardson ran for the Democratic nomination for president in 2008. He was born in California. He attended a preparatory school and earned a Bachelor's degree at Tufts University, located in Massachusetts. He was Governor of New Mexico from 2003 to 2011.

“I chose the Briscoe Center as the permanent home for my papers because it is one of the largest and most significant history research centers in the United States,” Richardson said in a statement. “The center has visionary leadership and an ambitious reach in its acquisitions, with ever-growing collections of national significance. I’m honored that my papers will reside in the same repository as those of such historically notable figures as Sam Houston, Walter Cronkite, James Farmer and Henry B. González.”
That was his choice...
