Someone please give me some hope that we are about 6 wks away from cooler weather. This humidity bites. I will never rent a house with a swamp cooler again.

I originally wanted a swamp cooler in Alamo.

Thank God I ended up with refrigerated air!!

BUT....as much as I love Alamogordo...and as beautiful as the area is, it would be better to live in an area where no cooling is needed at all.

I'm lucky . . . . Late last summer, I asked a local plumbing/ac company to replace my two, worn out swamp coolers. They mistakenly brought along a couple coolers that were more expensive (and powerful) than the ones I had ordered. To my good fortune, they agreed to install the upgrades at no extra cost.

This summer, even in humid conditions, I'm more comfortable.

Moral to the story: powerful swamp coolers work for me.

Default The Center Of N.M.

The Center of N.M. has very little Humidity and i never use air conditioning. It rarely gets to 100 degrees and nights get in the 50s and 40s at times. We get our fist snow in October most every year and our last one the end of May it snowed June 13th years ago. pintada kid at webtv.net

It's about 70 degrees here now. Nice and cool.
No a/c. No swamp cooler. Just fresh air coming through the windows.

I am in Alamogordo and so jealous of you who live higher up. We lived here from 00-04 but had refrigerated air, moved back last year and since we are only here until May 09 we decided to rent, so I am stuck with a swamp cooler. Never again. I wish I was in the Lincoln National Forest right now, or at least until the weather cools off. LOL

I'm like you, only I live further south, near El Paso (but so close to NM I could spit in it), and I don't use air conditioning. I think if people get outdoors a lot, they become accustomed to the weather and can enjoy it. An open window with a breeze and maybe a ceiling fan is the most I use just to take the edge off it in the evening.

I'm already missing the long summer days and they aren't even gone yet.
