I was just hit with a major increase on my current policy on a house that did not flood and has no claims. Any recommendations for companies that ARE writing in Jefferson parish?

Seeing as to how my insurance was less than 800$'s a year before Katrina, and is now over 3,000$'s a year.

I've had this problem with other posters. Don't post as many funny posts, because then I can't rep you enough. You are warned.

The insurance in the New Orleans area all the way around is a joke. When you can live in blizzard, earthquake, tornado, flood fire and pay less than me having a storm 9 years ago. The insurance companies don't want to be here. Just leave, its where we can't afford it now. Stop trying to insult us. You have made your money back in 2 years of Katrina. My rates have never gone down and never will. 4500 for a 180 thousand house is robbery with a 5 percent deductible and all the unrecoverable depreciation make these policies worthless white elephants

Why? It isn't an indictment of New Orleans, but of the crooked insurance industry.

I'll give you that one sir. There is nothing wrong with Jefferson Parish and I do feel bad for the good citizens that call it home. Sorry sir.

..except that it's on the crime-ridden southshore were all the drunkards and murders prowl the streets at night creeping for innocent upper middle class citizens walking their poodles.

My current carrier, ANPAC, which I have had since 2003 was reasonable then. After Katrina the premiums went from $1,200 a year to $3,600 in 04. I had a $22,000 Katrina damage claim. Last year ANPAC was granted a 17% increase by the La Dept. of Insurance. So my premium went to $4,200. This year they were again granted a 9.9% increase (an average I'm told by the "Insurance Department"). So I get hit with a 22% increase to $5,120. Put a calculator top that. It's a 427% increase over the 03 original rate. What better way to tell a customer you no longer want their business. So be it! I shopped and got a quote with better coverage, replacement cost, 1% deduct. rather than depreciated value, and 2% deduct., with the same dollars in coverage across the board, all for $3,000.00 a year. Big difference-Shop around don't have to just take what they dish out, you probably can do a lot better.
