The title pretty much says it all.

Me and a buddy of mine have been discussing moving out west for months now. NOLA is definitely one of top picks. We are wondering what might be the best course of action for living out there for 1(ish) year.

We are both young adults (male), very social, looking to go out a good amount. Just trying to experience all the city has to offer for a good solid year. Also we have a dog coming with us.

So the question boils down to: What would be the best neighborhood/area for us to look for apts. that are with social/single/young people that is close to the fun nightlife areas but also affordable?

DISCLAIMER: Please don't preach about whether or not this is a well thought out plan or throw in unnecessary negativity. It will only distract the conversation. All advice is great just try to keep it generally positive or at least constructive.

Lastly, how would NOLA compare to either say Austin TX or San Diego? (Our other picks)

Post away! Thanks!

Out west? In New Orleans?

Ok the first thing we need to know is-your budget. Considering you are looking into Austin and San Diego, I'll go ahead and assume it's high enough?

My guess is that you'll want to be in the Marigny. However, that depends on what you consider "affordable".

Depending on what type of nightlife you are looking for, Uptown would be a good option.
