Hello,

I'll be staying in First St & S. Liberty St (Faubourg Livaudais) for a week at a elderly relative's home. I'm wondering if it's safe to take a nightly stroll to/from the St. Charles at First St Streetcar stop or even walk all the way from downtown/FQ back home. Please let me know if that is not a good idea.

Thanks,

Schlawiner

Take a Google Street View virtual walk down that route.
I wouldn't do it after dark. Looks dark and lonely.

Yea, looked the area over on google maps, it's a lil sketchy, lol. A young man in good shape walking the path staying alert could most likely make it w/no problem. Years ago knew that area fairly well, head straight to st. charles and navigate from there, w/no bad luck ya'll be ok, don't head straight towards the city from there, bad news, lol. Course you wana see sumthan spooky, walk 4 blocks towards 6th street and walk around st Joeseph and Lafayette cemetery at night, scares me just thanking bout it, lol.

Course if u like to party and have a few bucks, you're less than 10 blocks from some seriously good dive bars. Some serious stomping grounds towards St Charles if u know what you're doing, lol. From cheap to high dollar clubs w/everything in between. In my younger days drank barge loads of alcohol in that neck of the woods, lol. If you were to carouse around and fall into a party, not hard in local bars in New Orleans, and get sloppy drunk Uber back at 3/4 in the morning. If you play your cards right may not need to go home till the following day, lol. Good luck young man, have a good time in the city, and for God's sake be careful, sort of.

Not a great area, bro. I'd keep a look out. The neigbhorhoods in that area go down in a hurry the farther you get from St. Charles. I probably wouldn't venture past Carondelet myself.

S. Liberty is an awful area. I believe it's Central City.

from that location 7 blocks to St Charles or 7 blocks to Martin Luther King Blvd. If the young man has no transportation but wants to get out just saying walk to St Chares and jump the streetcar. Easy peezey.

I'm actually here right now for 3 night already. I can say that the neighborhood is fairly safe. I've been walking on First St at night without problems, however, walking on Washington Ave towards St. Charles didn't feel as safe on Sunday afternoon. Lots of (sketchy) people loitering in that area. I was planning to take a bus from the cemetery, but changed my mind.
