I had a difficult time finding employment for 2 yrs and nearly depleted all of my savings while renting at another elsewhere. At the time I wasn't employed so I couldn't find a cheaper rent.

Last year, I moved into a lottery apt. and started working a contract position. This contract is about to end and I'm receiving calls for job opportunities which puts me in a higher bracket of annual gross $25-35k.

Can my lease be transferred from a low income apt to a market rate unit that is $1,000 more per month? How much can my rent increase? I wouldn't mind paying a bit more if they moved me to a larger unit but that's not the case.

Congrats on winning the housing lottery. I suggest that you read your lease. It will possibly tell you how much your income can increase over the income limit without having your rent increase. Sometimes the increase can be 20% or more. And even if you do make more usually they increase your rent a little, they don't transfer your lease and make your apartment market rate.
