Hi there! I'm moving to NYC from DC in 2 weeks. I was looking at room rental services but would like to know if any of you could recommend one (based from experience or hearing positive things about them from a friend).
I looked at 11penn.com and am seriously considering it. If I have no luck I'm also looking at extendedstaybookers.com/ (the one in Saint Marks). I've searched online and haven't really found any conclusive info on whether I should give them a try or stay away.
Any info would be so great! or even alternative solutions.
You could maybe try BigAppleRooms (google it), but they don't give you any options, just find you a room in an apartment for under $150/week where you might or might not have apartment mates. On the upside the rooms according to what I've read are usually cable and internet-ready.
There are posts all over the internet about 11Penn.com and Big Apple Rooms. They are both the same person and they are a scam. The man you see there is no longer licensed in NY. He takes your money and sends you to another agency, which he supposedly gets from craigslist, and they ask you for more money, sometimes $150 or even $200 depending on where he sends you. so avoid this guy at all costs.
