I am a newly graduated mechanical design engineer and recently moved to Manhattan and am looking for a job.

I have checked most of the popular job search web sites and the major employment/staffing agencies, but it seems like they mainly deal with financial and accounting staffing.

I will appreciate any advice or recommendations for employment/staffing agencies that might help or any other way of finding a junior mechanical design engineer job.

Thanks,
KJ

Are you part of any engineers associations? Was your alma mater in the NY/NJ/CT area? Do they have an alumni network that you can reach out to?

I am ASME member, but they haven't been very helpfull so far.
My alma mater is in San Jose Bay Area - CA, and their alumni network is generally spread through out the Silicon Valley.
Thanks,
KJ

Why would you move here without a job? Seriously.

The job situation is bad pretty much everywhere these days let alone someone newly graduated.
Best bet is to keep checking Career Builder and Craigs List. Good Luck.

Maybe try your hand in the green/environmental hooha, such as the recycling biz. That's just 1 example. Y'know, Obama is into that stuff so I assume while he's around that sector will be "hot" IDK
