Hey guys,

I wonder if anyone knows something about the safety in about that area. I've read that West of the Broadway is generally safe, what would you say?

Thanks!

Since the turnoff from the highway and GWB is right there, I've heard from a reliable source that there is still a decent drug presence serving people coming in from Jersey. However, I live a few blocks north and the many many times I've taken cabs along those blocks, I haven't seen anything suspicious. And another friend who lives nearby with his girlfriend has never had any problems.

Another issue is the grime and poor air quality from the bridge and Cross Bronx. When I lived on 177th & Ft Wash, there was always a layer of soot on things if we opened the windows.

think of noise and grime in that location as opposed to crime

177th&Pinehurst Ave = You're on the west side so you're safe. Not a lot of shady characters in that area. You might see group of kids hanging out by the park on Ft Washington but other than that you're ok. You're right near the A train express, port authority, m5 and m4 buses. Like others stated you're right near the GWB and West Side Highway so air pollution and car noise will be an issue but not a great one.

I know someone that lives right there...totally safe, only complaint was noise from the bridge, otherwise he loves the huge apartment he has at a great price.

I used to live just around the corner from there and never had any problems, not even noise really.

We live near there. Perfectly safe and a great neighborhood for families with kids.

I'll be moving to that area as well and it appears to be a 10 minute walk to the medical center/ hospital. Is it safe for a woman (mid-20s) to walk on her own between the two locations?
I would assume that I should take the subway at night time?

I've walked around that area alone or with my wife late at night plenty of times and never felt unsafe. To feel more comfortable take the trip by walking down Broadway. That street is always crowded with people and cars so its pretty safe.
