I want to major in English and I am currently attending a community college in Texas, planning on transferring to either Baruch or Hunter next year. Which college would you say has the best liberal arts program? I know Baruch is geared more towards business and Hunter more towards medical but I'm not going into either field so that doesn't matter to me.

Hunter has an excellent English grad program and I would expect it to trickle down to undergrad. I don't know about Baruch.

Hunter, I'm actually an alum on the english program there. The grad program is incredible as well, you literally have access to some of the best writers in the world at your fingertips...its a real bargain considering the tuition as well.

If you looking to study medical, Hunter is a great school as well...plus you'd have first dibs at the dorms downtown.

I never understood what the fascination was with Hunter.
Finish your liberal arts degree online. There are cheaper and quicker ways. If you're not looking for the social experience, contact me. Otherwise, go where it's affordable.

Hunter is affordable, no one wants to come out of school 200k in debt. With the CUNY system especially on an undergrad level, its feasible to come out of school with no debt and still receive a very good education. No one wants to graduate a slave to freddie and fannie mac.

In fact the affordability of Hunter is one reason why the grad programs (and now undergrad) have become very selective. They're now drawing on a larger pool of applicants from beyond the metropolitan area because those students can't afford Columbia, NYU, or Fordham.

I should also note both Brooklyn College and City have good writing programs on the graduate level.
