Being a native of Chicago; I've never seen any "Legit" Crips or Bloods. I do know that the Latin Kings; A Chicago gang originally, made it to NYC.
I want to know; How'd the LA based gangs make it to New York, nearly 3,000 miles away.
What's the ratio of each in New York?
I know in LA it's 3 crips for every blood

I don't know how long you've been here but that blood/crip fad has lost major steam in this city... If you want to talk about bloods and crips having legitimate power in this city that basically happened from early 90s to mid 2000s... The biggest movements now are YBz (Young Bosses) and YGz (Young Gunnaz), certain Latin King sets, a growing number of Mexican sets and Trinitarios are still around but losing steam...

The only areas where you'll see significant legitimate Bloods and Crips would be areas that have majority black populations like South Jamaica/Far Rock/Brownsville/East NY/parts of the Stuy/etc.

Now to answer the other question... just think about how did the latin king movement form... That moron Felipe whose sole mission in life was to create violence moved from Chicago to NYC and started a movement... While I don't follow gangs too closely other than what I hear from the school boards when they alert you about these things, I can only assume that those gangs probably gained popularity and grew the same way...

NYC ain't bout Bloods and Crips no more. The main Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings, and Trinitarios have broken up into dozens of tiny little gangs. You have the FTP(F**k The Police), 40s boys, GOD(Goons on Deck), ODB(On Deck Boys), DDP(Dominicans Dont Play) and tons more. Heres a link to a whole list http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-y...ods-crips.html
