I know full well that each of the outer boroughs have areas with single family detached houses with yards. However I was wondering if there is anyplace in Manhattan where they exist. I know Gracie Mansion technically qualifies and there are a few museum houses but aside from official residences for politicians and museums does anyone in Manhattan live in a single family detached house?

Not exactly what you're asking for, but a housing development unique in Manhattan too is Pomander Walk between 94th and 95th Street.

Gracie has a garden not some bare-earth yard!

I think there are a few old carriage houses in the Village that are detached, but they’re on the interior of the block so you can’t see them from the street.

New York Architecture Images-

The house in the link above is a detached single family, but no real yard.

I am trying to find a picture of one I remember up in Inwood. It had a yard and an iron fence around it. It was on this little side street.

Alexander Hamilton's House is detached and has a yard.
You just can't move into it.

Technically Marble Hill is in Manhattan.
