I was wondering what to do after I've moved in and settled.

What did you guys first do after you finally got settled?

I am moving from Seattle, for a job I was offered. Was curious to see what you did when you first moved.

I am from NY, so I'm not sure I fully understand your question.

Do you mean in terms of meeting people? In terms of learning about the city? Or something entirely different?

The cheap deal is to ask Time Warner Cable for $30/month broad band basic, then enjoy FREE HBO and Cinemax while it last. Local channels are always there with cable service.

You can try doing what we do to our cat when we move house. Coat your paws with butter in your new place, you'll spend 15 mins licking it off and cleaning yourself, and since cats only wash in a place they feel relaxed and settled in - its a fait accompli.

Go get a MTA map and take a look at the way that the subway system is laid out.

Walk around your neighborhood - where's your closest grocery, laundromat, movie theatre, post office, drugstore, etc.

Call your friends/family -invite them to come visit so you can show of your new place

Sign up for cable/internet, call Con Ed to make sure your name is on the service, make sure you update your address for your mail, etc

etc
