I could be wrong, but I don't believe you can buy lottery tickets online- and you have to pay cash for them ... That would be funny, someone buying lottery tickets with a credit card- Nothing like going into debt hoping to hit it big. Ha ha ha !!!!!

I also do not believe you can buy other states tickets unless you go to that state, unless it's like a Mega Million for example- which is played in almost all states. If you want a NJ lottery ticket and are from NY, you could drive over the border, buy it, and if you win, you can collect since you bought it !

Note to everyone: DON'T FORGET TO BUY A MEGA MILLION BEFORE TUESDAY - IT'S A GIANT JACKPOT !!!!!!!!!!

Interesting that Illinois just became the first state to start selling lottery tickets online, though you have to be a resident of Illinois.

There are a number of "unofficial" websites where you can buy lottery tickets on line. Essentialy they are based out of the US, they get away with it as they consider themselves a "messenger service". That is, they have someone in the various locales buy the lottery tickets for you. These sites have been around for a while and from what I can tell they are not scams, however, if someone where to actually hit the big prize via their service, who knows what they would do.

I think out of state sales are illegal but it is commonly DONE.
The real bummer would be if someone WON and the lottery stood on the law and withheld payment.

Mega is a THIRD OF A BILLION tonight. Gee with that amount I could get HBO.
