Hi all,
This is my first post so hopefully I'm not doing anything wrong! Anyways my fiancé, and I have received job offers in New York. They are great opportunities, and we plan on taking them. I was looking for information/tips on neighborhoods and such. Together we will make around 310K, and will be renting. We would like a 2 bedroom if possible, after we get married we would like to have kids in a few years. I have been doing a little bit of research, and am interested in the West Village. We recently visited on a vacation, and walked around and I loved the feel of the neighborhood. Any feedback?? Any neighborhood suggestions? We will both be working in Midtown. I am not familiar with NYC at all, so all help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Audrey

The only info you've given is your income and your desire for 2 bdrms.

So, what can anyone say?

2 bdrms can be found anywhere and your income allows you the basic freedom to rent anywhere save places for the truly wealthy.

If the west viillage is what you like then go for it!

No need to make decisions re children now. Settle in, explore the city and the region, and make those decisions latter. I would suggest you consider a very serious savings plan, as you'll need a very large down payment in order to purchse when you are ready. At least a few hundred thousand.

The best advice I can give you is: Find a great/legit broker and look at many Apts in the area you are interested in before you move in. Settle in, save money and then look for homes in NJ/close to NYC to buy/move in and start a family later on.

Good luck with everything!
