I don't understand why the school or the city have to be held responsible for the actions of an individual of this 'crime'. Do you think they will get $10 Million of our Tax money?? It seem like the teenager '16' is old enough to have sex with whoever he choose anyway. He is not a child anyway. What do you think?

NYC corporation counsel hands out money on too many stupid little lawsuits. If the lawyer & the family are willing to settle for, say, $75K, the city will probably pay. Lawyer gets 1/3, & the kid 2/3. What a joke!

None. They are just hoping for a settlement.......and they will probably get one !

According to today's papers the teacher was pretty much set up.Still, she broke one of the cardinal rules of teaching. She is an adult and should have known better but I'm torn between condemning her for her callousness and stupidity and feeling a bit sorry for her since it sounds like he was the aggressor.Complicated.

Too bad too because it sounds like she is actually a really, really good teacher and her career here in NYC at least is probably over.

Just so everyone is clear, when I made the above comment yesterday I thought the lawsuit was in reference to the Manhattan teacher who was the subject of a bet by a number of male students about who could "get" her first.

Now I realize that the lawsuit is actually in reference to a Brooklyn teacher who also had an affair with a student under quite different circumstances.I have no sympathy at all for this one.

Default culture wars

The government went to war with the Catholic Church children when kids were molested in the 60s-80s. There are hundreds of times more victims in the public schools than Catholic school. For every Catholic school victim there are a thousand victims in the secular schools. Unfortunately the ruling class is not at war with public schools so the stories are suppressed.

About time public realizes what a cesspool of molestation the public schools are. Time to pay out and get the word out that the secular schools are a hotbed of adult-child sex acts.

If they can get it to a Bronx jury, who are well known in legal circles for finding huge awards against the city, they will. Thats the problem to be considered, pay x now or pay x plus y later.

And the can is opening on the Hasidic community and their schools concerning child molestation.

Most priests never committed any sort of improper act but its always easy to go after the Catholic Church.
