How is the area like? Most likely I'll be getting off at the 96th stop and then walking to. I'll be coming in around 10pm-ish.

Thanks!

judging from your thread starting history, you might consider bookmarking: http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-y...fety-maps.html

anyway, it's an expensive and safe area. good subway options with 1,2,3,B,&C. lots of cabs if you want it. plenty of restaurants. have fun

I use to live in that neighborhood. It's great. Has everything you could need in the area. I would say Columbus is a little more upscale that Amsterdam Ave. Coming home at 11pm you'll be fine. I use to come home at 4am.

I feel the area is very safe. I had a good that that lived on 94th between Columbus and Amsterdam. Great neighborhood in my opinion.

Hey thanks for the link. I wasn't aware such thing existed. Will check it out. But I also like to have feedback from people who have either grown up in the area or go there frequently. People's individual experiences vary & I enjoy hearing what they have to say.

Btw, this area seems to have quite a history.

Name one neighborhood in NYC that doesn't have "history". NYC hasn't always been all flowers and roses like a lot of neighborhoods are now.
