I talk to friends and relatives that live in Queens and Brooklyn who pretty much never go into Manhattan. Nor have they seen the various tourist attractions people from all over world come to New York to see. No interest.
How about you, have you seen these tourist attractions and if not, why?
I've seen Ground Zero, Central Park (run there weekly) and been to the top of the Rock. Would be cool to see everything else, but I never have the time to actually go.
haha, I voted wrong. Read it as which have I been to, not which haven't I . But yeah, I did WTC once, a few random walks in central park on my lunch break, and used to work right by Rockefeller center (unfortunately). It's an effing nightmare over there once the holiday season hits. I have no real desire to go to any of the other places- they don't really represent NYC to me. They're the pumped up idealist tourist vision of NYC. I'd much rather go have a drink on the roof of 230 Fifth than pay $20 to take an elevator to the top of the Empire State Building.

I voted wrong too. Haven't been to Ellis Island and I've never been to the top of the Empire State building. All the others I did as a child on school trips but yeah, most of these things really are an "idealist tourist vision of NYC."
I've seen them all but Rockefeller Center. I don't live in fear of being mistaken for a tourist.
