That picture is priceless... These guys are such an asset to our communities. Don't you agree hilltop? Not too far behind North Williamsburg are the other hipster meccas of LES/East Village as well...
Great post. I love how most of Queens is Green [Quiet]. That's one this this borough has going for it.
Edit: Apperently Brownsville and ENY are quiet...unless bullets being shot is the only loud thing going on.
Noisiest neighborhood just means it registers the most noise complaints... ENY and Brownsville have bigger issues to tackle than noise complaints which is probably why those neighborhoods are shown the way they are... And looking at the map, it seems like that's the case for pretty much any hood area... It's just funny to me how every hipster supporter who doesn't have the pleasure of living with these fine human beings claims what an asset they are to the community, meanwhile it seems pretty clear that those who have to share a neighborhood with them think differently...
There is a reason Williamsburg is loud, that's where all the fun is. The bars, the beer halls, the amazing restaurants, Summer concerts on the water, the women and not to mention my fav spot in the city the Brooklyn Bowl is there. If I were single and could afford the rent I'd love to live in Williamsburg.
The thing is this, no one can expect tranquility in NYC. Id be surprised if its Calebs and Megans from Kalamazoo calling the city about noise complaints.
The map measures not only noise but how much noise is tolerated in a particular area.
I.e., there is no way that Prospect Heights is louder than that yellow part of Washington Heights--but people in Prospect Heights are much more likely to complain.
