What is the landlord's responsibilty for providing carbon monoxide detectors?

He must give you one and he must replace it whan necessary.
I THINK he might be able to charge you something for installation...my building said something about their absorbing the fees.

CO detectors are different from smoke detectors in that the former have a limited life...5 years for safety, because they depend on a chemical pack which deteriorates.
Smoke detectors use a bit of radioactive material which will remain active until long after NYC is but a footnote in ancient history books.

I don't know WHO is responsible for changing batteries, but that is a trifle.

Tenants can be charged $25 and tenants are responsible for battery changing.

Tenants are charged 25 dollars, it is cheaper to buy it and screw it into the wall yourself.
it is there to save your life.
