My husband and I have just returned yesterday from a four day visit and still without a shadow of a doubt LOVE New York for all the reasons we remember, the smells the pace, the views ect.

I just really wanted to mention that we could not believe how expensive New York is! I was thinking how you all manage to live here and also what are the secret places to eat where it doesn't cost a small fortune!?
The cost if drinks, taxis, food, ect which of course you all know is so expensive. All that being said we still love New York what's not to love? I am just glad we don't live there only purely for money reasons other than that nothing would stop us!

Happy thanksgiving

LOL. She loves the "smell" of NYC. LOL.

She should have ventured out of the tourist or safe areas of Manhattan. When people say they visited NYC they really mean they visited Manhattan (South of Columbia University to Battery Park).

Since when is north of Columbia University unsafe? And for the average tourist there's no reason to go that far up there besides The Cloisters.

harlem and wash heights might be too unsafe for some people.

No reason to go to Harlem and wash heights?? See the Apollo theater, the house of alexander hamilton, eat some soul food in Harlem, see the historic architecture in harlem, walk the GWB, see the Little Red Lighthouse, visit the Audobon Ballroom (now the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center) the place where Malcom got shot, etc. There is lots to do and see in Harlem and Wash Heights.

Glad you enjoyed your visit.
You are right, the City is incredible.

And like any City, the residents learn how to live MUCH more cheaply than tourists.

You mentioned a word there that I don't understand: what is a "taxi?"
