It's so far away. I don't know what's going on this weekend let alone 5 months from now.

You could check out the village Halloween parade at the end of October. I'm not sure exactly when its going to be held this year. Other than the standard tourist attractions that everyone knows about, you can try to catch a Broadway show as well.

The end of October/beginning of November can be chilly--so bring a warm jacket. You shouldn't need a heavy winter coat at that point however.

This is the sort of question that's best answered by reading a guidebook. Or if you don't want to pay the $12 for a book, you could google "NYC things to do" and read blogs that cover this kind of material. Time Out NY has a website you could look at for starters.

Enjoy your trip.

It is hard to predict the exact weather for that time period as it be changeable due to the fall season and after the winter we just had here, I don't think it is easy to predict the exact forecast.

Your daughter might enjoy the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum: The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum .

You have a 12 year old with you so for Halloween, you'll want to keep that in mind. There are haunted houses and a parade, but some of it may be too mature for her depending on your views.

Weather can be crisp that time of year, but it's also a good time to start catching the changing leaves. Central Park, the Botanical Gardens, and the Bronx Zoo are good excursions.

There is mini golf downtown on Pier 25.

You didn't mention your interests but there are plenty of different kinds of museums from types of art, to history, to the history of the subway, FDNY, etc.

Yes, you can take her to the parade. New Yorker's tend to live very much in the minute. It's just not realistic for us to give you specific things to do months and months away from your visit date, especially when you didn't give us any info on your interests. It depends on the weather around that time, your interests, and exactly what is going on.
