I heard there is a good kitchen appliance store in NJ that offers free delivery to NYC customers. It pays to buy large items in NJ online that have free (or cheap) NYC delivery because we don't pay state tax that way. The problem is that I can't reach the person who told me about this place so I don't have the name of the store.

So, given that I still owe taxes, what is your recommended store for large appliances, either in NY or NJ?
What are you buying? I never had a problem with PC Richards. That's where I bought my stove, fridge, deep freezer and large AC for the living room. They even deliver on Sundays.

The law is that IF the store has a physical presence in NY then the store must deduct NY tax no matter from what outlet you are buying.
But why limit yourself to NJ? There are hundreds on online appliance stores with no NY presence and usually with anything like the large order you are placing, you will get free delivery.

Buying these types of items on line has to be one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard. There is the delivery and installation to be considered.... There are perfectly good stores in the city who will provide all of these services.Sometimes to save the taxes people make really dumb decisions---- what must be considered is the "fully considered complete cost of ownership"
