WHAT do they DO in charter schools that are so different from a PUBLIC School?

WHY cant ALL students be given the opportunity for such a fantastic alternative.. instead of just the randomly chosen few?

Why do the taxpayers have to be on the hook for paying for a TWO TIER SYSTEM?
and
HOW do YOU KNOW that all PUBLIC and PRIVATE schools only have one learning style at only one Pace?

are you painting with a really big brush? or just talkin out ya arse?

It's called experience, my dear...experience at public, private, charter, and junior college...and a Master's in Education.

well the thread is asking for a legitimate argument
and not all the posters here at CD have experience in public private charter and junior college or do they possess a masters in education

so please elaborate on your position... and answer the questions posed BASED on your experience
Thank You

I'm a former NYC public school teacher. A friend of mine took a job at a charter school in Queens after working for a private for-profit preschool for $15.50/hr with her Master's degree (I know, pathetic). Took the job at a charter since it was more money, and couldn't find jobs in the public schools. Her Principal gets away with things that would have never happened in a public school. She has no union, of course. Starts about 10k lower, and works much longer hours. She's required to teach after school for no additional pay. Basically like working as a slave to a Principal who has all the power. Looking into the public schools since she's miserable there. Luckily, the dept of ed is looking to hire many pre-k teachers with the increase in universal pre-k.

Well gee whiz, welcome to the real world. This is what the rest of us have to deal with, it's called free labor markets. Your friend is not a slave, she/he is a contracted employee. If the pay is not good, then they should find another position. If no position exists, they should re-tool for another job. If charters can't fill positions the pay will have to rise, but apparently there's no lack of unemployed teachers. This is how the economy works

Have a look for yourself, most positions require a masters and at the very minimum a bachelor's degree:
