Does anybody know what income criteria these two buildings use? Their web-site states

Hargrave’s 112 apartments are restricted to persons who are 62 years of age and older and earning less than 80% of Area Median Income (AMI), which was $48,100 for a single person and $ 55,000 for two people as of 2013.

I have an elderly relative who qualifies for this based on the upper range of income, but I am not sure if they are looking at the lower range as well (i.e. 40x rent)? My relative is on SSI+medicaid. Would he be able to get on of these apartments? Considering a studio goes for ~$900 a month I would be actually paying for it (which is ok) - would the rent I pay considered their "income" and could potentially disqualify him from receiving medicaid?
