That is true, but it seems to be a part of Manhattan that I am almost NEVER in.
You should have seen the incredible lines at Fairway, 86th, yesterday (MLK Holiday.) I needed a couple thing only they had...but I saw the lines and I turned on my heels and headed for home.
I imagine the line outside TJ's 72nd extended up to 82nd?
God forbid the horror scene in2025 when a cate 6 hurricane obama hit NYC head on...or evenworse, a misguided desperate russian missile putin landed onto the empire building...how can nyc evacuate so many ppl via the few slow moving br&t?
I will be out of here by 2024for sure.
22nd street location >>>>> 72nd street location >>>> 14th street location >>>>>>>>>> Court Street location
The 22nd Street is the only safe bet. The rest are always jam packed. 22nd street can get crowded but their lines move blazing fast.
The 22nd Street store gets crowded on the weekends. I've found that once you actually get on a line in any of the Trader Joes, the line moves relatively quickly.
Well, they have in a way. It's called Aldi's and there are a few around the city including 2 in the Bronx with a 3rd Bronx location to open soon. It's owned by the same family as Trader Joe's. And there is a family feud behind the split. Aldi's is cheaper than Trader Joes and just as good if not better.
I love Aldi. There are two in Brooklyn that I know of. I just wish it opened earlier so I could stop by on my way home from work. I will buy sale stuff at Pathmark/wherever and then anything else is just always cheaper at Aldi or if you need things that haven't been on sale.
The other poster said they make you pay for bags but they don't care if you bring reusable bags, which I do.

I love Trader Joes...the food there is amazing and I don't think I've ever been disappointed with anything I've ever gotten there.
The one in SI isn't too bad. The lines are definitely better than the ones in the city but the store isn't too big. I will say I have bought plenty of things I haven't liked/have been meh about. (They have one type of blue chips that have to be the worst chips I've ever had.)
I was just at the 22nd street Trader Joes today and this was my reaction:
The lines were so long I had to leave. So I went to Fairway Market by 26th street instead and it was EXTREMELY long too. I waited in line for a few fruits, smh.
I hate going grocery shopping every three days ! I wish I had a car to load stuff up for a month.
I go food shopping and come home DRENCHED in sweat from being indoors so long with a winter jacket on dodging people and shlepping the bags home. My shirts need at least two hours to dry. LOL
Trader Joes quite empty outside of NYC, I go in for free coffee and samples. Never really caught on to their overpriced and rebadged stuff. Take some of their ethnic foods, they simply rebadged stuff you find at Asian grocers for 40-50% more. Rather shop at Wegman's, bigger more selection, and better priced.

What's going on?????
Remember when the Soviet Union was regularly denigrated because people had to wait in line to buy food.
TOO FUNNY!

I thought that was strange too seeing stuff from China rebadged and/or manufactured in Mexico. i.e. green tea mints are popular in China, but you might not even find them in Asian markets here, but you'll find them at Trader Joe's. Many of their other exotic snacks are like that too. I thought I was the only one who noticed.
the bronx needs a damn trader joes. It would do gangbusters here.
