Not sure myself whether I would feel at ease enough to actually go to the top? Would you go? Or are you planning to?

Absolutely, if for no other reason than for those of us who (albeit vaguely in my case, I was 13 on 9/11/01) remember the former WTC as it existed it will add an extra layer of closure regarding the site. The view from the top was an integral part of the Twin Towers during their life and a return of the observation deck is just as much of a representation of the rebuilding of Ground Zero as buildings/memorial themselves.

Also, I know these debates went on incessantly after the attacks, but I am firmly in the camp that things like working in the buildings, shopping in the complex, visiting the top etc all represent a defiance of what those 19 individuals sought to accomplish that awful September morning.

Having said that, I hold absolutely no judgement on anyone else's decision to *not* go.

The previews of it look outstanding, so much so it will be worth the $32 to see it.

This is an interesting topic in NYC. I wonder if you can improve your subject title within this time window to edit.

Admission price is SO WRONG. For this, I wish there was a different price for residents of NYC. I understand why there are tourist price-tags on some activities, and I'm sure tourists will do it as a one-time experience, as would I -- once.

But, given the history and impact on NYC, I wish I could afford to visit it more regularly whenever walking nearby, and develop a thoughtful relationship to this view, just as a lot of us residents have "relationships" with a favorite spot in Central Park or gazing at the Statue from different angles.

Akin to the Public Library system, I just wish NYC residents could bring a copy of their lease or deed title, to go up at a greatly discounted rate ($5-10). That'd be a good statement and create ongoing feelings of support for the site. If money's the object here, then it'd even make sense to enthuse local NYC residents to go up more often and bring their visiting tourist friends at full price.

Probably I will go if I have some out-of-town visitors that want me to accompany them there.

$40 for an elevator ride is unconscionable.

Where is that money really going?
