Sheldon Silver Resigns New York Assembly

I'm surprised the saga of Sheldon Silver receives so little attention here. In 1997, when the Republicans wanted to get rid of rent stabilization, Silver held down the fort and preserved rent stabilization. Now Silver is GONE. Some people on this forum like rent stabilization and others hate it, but either way things will be pretty different with Silver gone. Especially since the Justice department is investigating other politicians (Dean Skelos is next).

Certain tax credits for resl estate developers expire in June of this year, along with rent stabilization. Of course the budget and the MTA capital plan are up, and these are all things Silver had massive influence over. Silver often sided with the teachers unions, too.
