You can receive Snap and Child care benefits in NY if you meet the requirements. If you move to NYC, you can learn about many government benefits through www.nyc.gov/accessnyc. Make sure to close your Snap case in CT and take that closing letter to NYC. You will be able to apply for Snap benefits from any computer with internet access;child care is more involved; you need to visit a Dept. Of Social Services office called
"Job Center" and apply in person. You can apply for cash, medicaid and snap benefits or if you are employed, you can apply for child care benefits only. Your income and other requirements will determine the benefits that you will be entitled to. Also, you can call 311 to learn about NYC services available to residents. Job Centers are divided by Zip code so make sure that you go to the center that covers the Zip code where you are residing.
