I have 2 friends visiting NYC (this includes the other boros) for 5 days. They are Japanese so they may not be back to NYC any time soon. They are a married couple asking for a medium-range priced steakhouse. To them this means that they want to pay $80 only (that includes the tip). They will probably ask for the steak rare or medium rare. What places can you suggest? I'll look into it further if you can recommend some places. Thank You for your time.

Jake's Steakhouse in The Bronx, adjacent to Van Cortlandt Park has an early dinner special for $29.95 prix fixe, so they would be close to $80, depending upon drinks.

Thanks for these replies. Additionally...

Anyone know of any great steak dinners in the Times Square/ 53rd and 6th avenue area (that's where they'll be staying)? Even if its more expensive than $80, it kind of may be worth it if the steak is good enough.

The Hourglass Tavern on West 46th St. has a pretty good 10 ounce strip steak at a reasonable price and if you go there late, you may run into some famous actors. If you want the best steak in the city, then consider eating at Wolfgang's, Keen's Steakhouse, The Old Homestead, McCormick & Schmick's, Peter Luger's or the Palm. You can check their menus at the link below.

Keen's Steakhouse is not far from Times Square, W36th & 6th Ave. They would pay a bit more, but it is an older restaurant, so there's history as well as being in operation for over 100 years.

There is a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in the Times Square area that is very good. Excellent food. Large space, lots of rooms, good service. It's on West 52nd Street between Sixth and Seventh.
