Moving companies for out of state move (movers, house)

I'm looking for recommendation for moving companies that will pick up furnitures in a 1BR in Queens and drive, unpack them in a house in Houston.

Trying to get a sense of cost and logistics.

I really liked OZ for my move to San Diego. Both locations went smoothly. I would use them again.

Can you tell me a bit about your experience? And cost?

How long it takes them get your things to SD? Do they hold it for you at the destination and deliver on a specific date?

Do you pack yourself and they just pick up the boxes?

Do you have very expensive furniture or just mediocre stuff? If it's just mediocre, the expense of moving with a reputable company (Allied, Atlas, United, North American, Mayflower, Graebel, etc.) is not worth it. Sell your furniture and ship your other stuff by UPS or the post office. Buy new or used in Houston.

If it's good furniture and you have a lot of other valuables to move, then use one of the previously listed movers. Interstate moves are price competitive. Get estimates and firm dates. Don't go with one of the local movers or one that promise a very cheap move and then disappears with your stuff or shows up with a demand to pay a big surcharge before they unload.
