I'm curious: is the "campus" of Brooklyn college (including the track and sports field), accessible to the public, or do you need to show a student ID to get in?
I ask because I'm considering moving to the neighborhood and I'm wondering if it's possible to go for a jog, for example, on the campus track, as a non-student?
Another (related) question: is it possible to buy a membership to use the Brooklyn College indoor swimming pool/gym as a non-student?
I gather from their website that you can but you'll have to pay- $350 for 6 months, $600 for a year (rates for an individual). Of course, you'll have to work around the regular students and the athletic teams schedules (practices and games).
Anyone can go into the Columbia University campus, for example.
Why not the Brooklyn College campus?
Columbia is a private college, they do whatever they please (plus they don't have any facilities on those grounds except roads and lawns). Brooklyn college is part of the CUNY system. You have to have an ID to go to any CUNY campuses.
