Here's my background.

I am 26 and have a lifelong history of mental problems. I have major depression, bi-polar, and I may have schizophrenia now. I'm also dependent on alcohol, I have a major addiction to alcohol. I my hometown, I have a lot of problems and I have beef in the streets. A few months ago I had a job, a place, a spouse, and kids. Now i have nothing, nothing at all. Turns out my kids aren't even mines and I feel like im going to explode if I stay in the city where I'm at now. I'm familiar with NYC and I planning on coming up there and admit myself to a hospital, Bellevue comes to mind but are there any other places that have good impatient services for people with mental health problems and alcohol detox?

I want to start over, and I can't be talked out of coming to NYC.

You realize you're asking for help coming to a city where you've never paid taxes, in order to take advantage of all the tax dollars us actual residents pay?

To be fair a lot of New Yorkers have moved to other cities and took advantage of tax dollars of that city too. San Francisco and Philly come to mind. Newark too.

Ok, let's start with talking a little bit about what you're thinking about and what length of treatment you'd like.
Don't know how familiar you are with how drug treatment is structured, and as you know, having major mental illness can complicate alcohol treatment.

Mental Illness short term stay: You can certainly come up and go to Bellevue and check yourself in for a short term stay to get your mental illness treated. But they won't be able to help you much with alcohol dependency in a short-term stay.

Because your situation is so common, most drug treatment centers either develop special units to help people in this situation, or have clear criteria about who they are best able to help.

First step is usually a detox, which can be a 24 hour to 1 week inpatient stay. The focus here is just to get the alcohol out of your system and get you stable. There will be mental illness treatment, but it's extremely minimal, the focus is making sure you're safely and careful brought off the alcohol.

It's wise to have a treatment center lined up for immediately after detox. Lots of treatment centers will ask at intake if you've been through detox, and may refer you to detox before they'll admit you. Here's a link to some of the better known programs that treat people with mental illness and alcohol. Give them a call and see what they say: New York Dual Diagnosis Drug Rehabs and Alcohol Treatment Centers

This isn't correct.
One cannot report to Bellevue or any other psychiatric hospital and simply "check yourself in for a short term stay".
Unless a person is suicidal or homicidal, they will not be admitted to an inpatient psychiatric unit even if they self-report to a psych ER.
Instead, they will be referred to an outpatient clinic where they can see a psychiatrist monthly and a psychotherapist weekly for outpatient treatment.
