Did you send in your paperwork? Have you heard anything from
them since you sent in your paperwork?
I was called in the low income group in May 2016 and submitted my paperwork, and they asked for updated paperwork in December and still nothing... my log number was 150.
They burned through the entire waiting list already for the middle-income group because lots of people are turning down $2,800 one-bedrooms, from what I understand.
YES! Because 2800 bux a month is SO middle class! :/ I get that a power couple can afford that rent split 2 ways, but come on... This entire fiasco seems like a giant spitball in the face to moderate income new yorkers. aka. the bread and damn butter of this city btw!
And I bet you so many people are turning down those 2800 dollar a month one bedrooms, not so much because they are SO expensive (they are) but because it seems like the rules change every single time this development changes owners. So much legal rent, preference rent, etc. You can't rent these units without any kind of security that REAL rent-stabalized units own. It's a bunch of nasty legalese in all these leases and deals make with private/public entities and even the city government seems a tad negligent and shady with it's hands in the deal.
total agreeance. Also a bigger percentage of preference for city residents who became city workers? Seems like the BEST location for it. Kids who grew up in NYC but became EMT, NYPD, social workers, teachers, etc. Why can't our PD and Fire Fighters stay here in the city (I realize many don't want to for various reasons), but a place like stuy town would be great to keep those workers who grew up here and actually care about this city enough to stay here and be able to pay their rent on their salaries. We don't need to increase municipal employees salaries so much as maybe make some parts of the city affordable for them to actually STAY here and maybe raise a family?
