Rents have way surpassed inflation. The price for a 1 bedroom in Mott Haven in 1998 was definitely not the equivalent of 1300 dollars today.
That's because our government and the FRB are trying to hide inflation as much as they can everywhere else. My problem with Trump is that he may potentially inadvertently expose this, and if and when he does, the markets will react in a very troubling way. Is Bernie Sanders was elected we'd be there already. Clinton would have just kept the charade going.
