I often like to point out to those who say Islam is violent and Muslims are violent/hateful, that in New York city there is a very visible middle eastern population many of whom are muslims, and they figure in almost no crime statistic. NYC has a visble jewish and muslim population yet waves of anti-semitic violence by muslims here is unheard of, and muslims are not a factor in the city's violent crime statistics.

But at the same time, there is so little info on nyc muslims that it's hard to statisitcally prove this. How many hate crimes are there in NYC committed by Muslims? What's the violent crime rate in the muslim community here? How do I find this out?

The city does not track crime by religion of the perpetrator, for many reasons that should be obvious.

From what I understand, Muslim-Americans have a very low crime rate.

First off. Not all Muslims are Arabs, and not all Arabs are Muslims. Most Muslims in NYC are from Asia, and not from the Middle East. This is very true in NYC plenty of Arabs here are Christian. But that might change soon because of the refugee crisis in the Levant. Also Muslims are not counted by their faith but by their ethnic and racial background. Arabs and other Levantine groups are classified as white according to Federal government. While Pakistanis and Bengalis are Asian. All of these groups have low crime statistic. Anti-Semitic violence by Muslims are low nationwide. I wish I can help you on your thesis. A search on Lexis Nexis might assist you in profound ways for sources of information on such topics.

Muslims are not violent, but the violence that we a saying in the Levant stems from 100 years of broken promises, the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Western meddling in the Middle East due to Sykes Picot Agreement, British inviting former child colony USA to take part in Oil boom, British handing over the Middle East to America, battle between secularism in Arab World vs the theist/monarchist. Remember Secularist were backed by Nazi Germany, and Later Soviet Union. The Secularist are Socialist, a good example is Al Assad's Syria. Syria is the last socialist country in the Middle East. Turkey of NATO, Israel, and the Whabbi/Salafi in Saudi Arabia want Syrian regime destroyed. Kind of like the same way how the Saudis and Israelis were happy for the fall of the Soviet Union like if it was a biblical miracle. The last piece of the puzzle is Israel in which a Jewish state was promised by British lawmakers in the early 20th century. All of this was possible due to the Belfour Agreement. The Jews bought land and property from absentee Palestinian and Arab owners. The last issue is the Palestinian people, and no one likes Palestinians, neither Arab or Israeli. Palestinians are treated like crap in neighboring Arab states. All of this meddling over the past 100 years from then and now is what is triggering the violence amongst a small, tiny, very tiny population of Arab Muslims. Overall Muslims in NYC have a very low crime rate. But I'm not sure which group has a high crime rate. You have Turkish who are not Arab, than you have South Asian Muslims, Bengali/Pakistani, than their are Arab/Levantines, than the last are Saharan Africans who live primarily in West Bronx and in Central and West Harlem.
