Not sure what you're trying to imply. Are you saying the banking industry is laying off? Probably, it thinks a recession is coming and it's getting ready.

Nevertheless, Amazon is a successful company, why does it need $3B subventions to be in NYS? That's a bit rich. Are they not willing to contribute to the city that much? I just find that story a bit unfortunate but if they really didn't want NYS except if the city/state subventioned $3B, then there's not much to say, right?

Listening to NY1 now and they're saying the loud, vocal minority won.

Prices about to shoot right back down

Yet still going to be unaffordable for the people complaining

They are just holding off the inevitable. The city doesn’t have the money to build 100% subsidized housing all over the city. But hey they let outside politicians and idiots kill an economic deal when we are very well heading into a development downturn/recession. Less building, less union construction jobs, less housing, higher rents.

The banking industry is becoming more computerized, less jobs needed.

You obviously didn’t get the deal which is why amazon is leaving because loud New Yorkers are stupid

DC is a great location, intelligent smart people live there.

Default Amazon pulls out of deal to build major office in NYC

It's done.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/14/n...gtype=Homepage

I hope when all the millennial snowflakes who protested against this have trouble finding jobs, they'll remember this.

They could be a major downward turning point for NYC, where it develops a reputation for being business unfriendly, and the economy starts to fall apart.

These are effectively becoming the only people NY government aims to please.

That's right! As much as I like economy growth, but Amazon is not something I like to see in NYC simply because my tax dollar goes into building a helipad for them.

Yes, just as big autos announced thousands of layoffs because of shifts in the industry, so too are banks shedding jobs due to automation, fintech and high costs. Nyc needed amazon more than those bozios realized.

This comment is the embodiment of why Amazon pulled out of LIC. Looking at the short term and completely ignoring the long term benefits.
