With an entire sanitation department and number of private garbage companies throughout NJ and NYC why is garbage dumping even in a thing in NYC?
Are private garbage companies prohibited from picking up trash in front of apartment buildings or something?
I was just driving down Ocean Avenue in Brooklyn and was wondering why cant a private company pick up the dumping in front of these buildings since the sanitation trucks are nowhere in sight and I clearly saw a private garbage company picking up trash along Fulton Street.
Im sorry but i refuse to believe that this is a complex situation to fix.
Hopefully people dont turn this thread into a De Blasio bashing thread. I just want to understand the logistics of the sanitation department and private garbage truck companies.
one is private and the other is city, they cant do what each does.
city laws.
I figured thats the rule and it makes sense now why there all the main streets with apartment buildings are literally dumping sights that have to wait till the sanitation department shows up.

Varies neighborhood to neighborhood and changes over time.
I grew up in Ridgewood. Home owners used to sweep in front of their homes and out into the street followed by a garden hose clean down in addition to Garbage pick up. It changed long after I moved out of the neighborhood. Sanitation appreciated and would take extra garbage
as a sign of than kyou.
I moved into a neighborhood where property owners care about their properties.
Best to ask the folks whose properties are dirty why they do not clean up. Ask a person caught littering in the neighborhood why they could not carry the garbage to a receptacle. It is not isolated to being a city problem.
It is a people problem.

I'm not focusing on people who litter or people who clean in front of their buildings. I am focusing on the large piles of garbage bags on the streets.
So during your time spend in Ridgewood, how did the neighbors deal with that?
Did sanitation and private garbage companies come more frequently? Did the people in your neighborhood call their local officials or volunteer with picking up bags of garbage? Did the buildings in ridgewood have alleys where people knew to hide the dumping?
For example I went to the sanitation website to dig up more information and all that I got was "If you see someone dumping then just call and report them and get a reward" LOL. I was actually checking the website to see if I could get involved or volunteer my time to assisting in removing garbage dumps and this is what their solution is lol.
What parts of Brooklyn and The Bronx are you talking about Because I live in Midwood and people say "mines" all the time.
I thought that was nationwide AAVE
